El Circulo Eterno is a dialogue between the past and the present; a dialogue between two performers who constantly oscillate between gender roles. This is how DanceLab Berlin is giving honor to one of the most significant protagonists of German Expressionist Dance - Harald Kreutzberg [1902-1968]. Not only was he described as »the best dancer since Nijinsky« by the New York Times in 1927, but more importantly, Kreutzberg was a pioneering queer artist who played a very delicate game in his exploration of androgyny and homosexuality under the Third Reich.

»Dealing with gender is at the focus of our creation. From the very beginning it was not our aim to reconstruct Kreutzberg but to use his great inventions as a source of inspiration for a new creation of contemporary dance. We started to isolate certain hand and arm gestures from Kreutzberg’s ballet solo Der ewige Kreis from 1938 and combined them with our contemporary styles, developing a new type of language.«

DanceLab Berlin is a dance company with two artistic directors and choreographers: Jorge Morro and Norbert Servos. The company was founded at Akademie der Künste in 1993 as a platform for a variety of dancers, actors, singers, composers and visual artists from all over the world. Since then DanceLab Berlin has produced and presented its interdisciplinary creations in countries like The Netherlands, Spain, Luxembourg, Cuba and Greece.

Both dates the show will be starting at 20.00.
Doors open at 19.15.
Duration: 60 mins.
”},”id”:”ab86c816-db76-4b33-a9af-d3bd5fd84c47”,”isHidden”:false,”type”:”text”}]
