TRAUMABARUNDKINO and New Models present: SimSociety, exploring MMORPGs as a social model, with Joshua Citarella & Cade.
In a two-part lecture, NEW MODELS hosts deep systems/infrastructure researcher CADE and NY-based artist JOSHUA CITARELLA to speak about how the ways we live and think in the online-space are materially impacting how the physical future will play out.
As the legitimacy of the mainstream media (MSM) fades, so too does the shared “truth” it upholds. In many ways, this is a good thing, making way for new norms. Yet the distributed journalism that is taking the MSM’s place relies on online platforms that gamify narrative-building, rendering us players in MMORPG-like worlds — with the arena being IRL Earth.
